    MG ZGMF-X20A STRIKE FREEDOM

Post by plar10 on Wed 23 Apr 2014, 1:07 am

After several months I finally can say this one is completed. This is a MG Strike Freedom which i detailed with reference to it's RG and PG versions,  Keita's White Strike freedom, as well as some of my own  Embarassed

Many mistakes through out, still short of patience. I am overall happy with the end result but just glad I finished it. WIP can be found [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

    paints used are:
dark blue: mr. color no. 326 blue fs15044
blue: mr color cobalt blue + mr color bright blue + a pinch of pink fluorescence.
    red: mr. color red madder
golds: gaianotes starbright gold+ gaianotes star bright brass
    silvers: gaianotes starbright silver
greys (collar, railguns) : gaianotes blue grey
greys (armors) : gaianotes neutral grey II
    whites: mr color cool white

for the shading/highlight (if still visible  )
blue and dark blue i just added white into the paints
red i needed to add white and grey and a little bit of yellow because only adding white turns the red to pink
as for whites i sprayed blue grey as base then coat with white and the neutral grey.

and some other paints to touch up the details.

Here are the pics, chose white backdrop because it brings out the shading better than black backdrop.

    some of the details:

    Holy mama!! Its done!!!
    Perfecto mando bro!

Seriously nice wor.. a fine example of an excellent piece of work without the need for any fanciful kitbash at all! Love your style bro!
one very minor comment is mayb can consider some brown panel wash on e gold frame to bring out e detail on e gold frame. But as it is now, it looks very gd liao Smile

*ps: I still stand by my comment abt u sending this kit in for gbwc.
    cheers!

sweet mama of god! the clean colour parting & subtle toning!

if i were to be nick-pick, the gear at the waist doesn't really work for me. The choice of light blue could have been slightly darker or with a pinch of purple like cobelt blue, to bring out the gold even more. just personal pref.

but yes! ur awesome paint job is something i need to learn and practice! it is a wonderful piece of work!

Top quality work and excellent photoshoot. Make me wanna start painting on my SF now

For these 2 paints, are they just used straight from bottle, no need mix with other paints?

@AlexeiUA: Thank you. Strike Freedom is a must have in your collection Very Happy

@Kaboku: Thanks man. I am still short of patience though  Sad

@Keansirt: Thanks. looking forward to see your RG SF.

@Vickon: Thanks bro, glad you like it Very Happy

@sliver: Thank you for your kind words sliver. Noted regarding the brown panel lines.. i was actually considering it but laziness got the best of me :(Perhaps if i am sending this for GBWC I will add it Smile

@AmuroRay: Thank you bro, your comment is too flattering. heaven

@dydee: Thanks man. Noted on the gear. About the blue, i agree, is a little too bright compared to the overall color scheme, i think it was due to the white added to it, a bit more towards cobalt
woulda definetely been better. Still need to work on my color combo

@Celeron: Thank you bro. You probably need to add white to lighten them especially the blue grey, it can be a tad too dark, the overall colors you see here are the highlights which I added white to them.

    Yo Plar10!

There's a humongous snap-fit Strike Freedom in my office. I actually get turned off looking at it cause I always wonder how the gold frame can possibly be painted so that it looks nice.

But when I see yours, it's really jaw-dropping!        Beautiful inner frame and delicious metallics once again! I gotta agree with Sliver on panel-lining the inner frame though. It has a lot of details in there that the panel lining will help to make pop out.

Really dig the subtle shading on your kit. If I do shading, this is the exact effect I would be after but shading isn't easy at all... kudos for the superb paint job!

Of course, not to mention the cosmetic modifications that you spent many hours doing. Really makes your kit look a thousand times better and unique. I really like your sense of aesthetics.

    Very nice colouring.
About the gold you create, it is nearly the same as the original colour?
i am looking for something very similar to that colour.

    thks. Embarassed
